Malorie Blake, Violin
Born in New Hampshire, violinist Malorie Blake is an accomplished and versatile performer of both classical and modern repertoires. Winner of the Bach Competition at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, and second prize winner of the New England String Ensemble Concerto Competition, Malorie has performed widely throughout Europe and America. She has participated in masterclasses and concerts with renowned performers including Suzanne Mentzner, Marilyn MacDonald, Daniel Phillips, Leone Buyse, Raphael Hillier and Ivo van der Werf. Malorie has appeared with the Boston Pops, Honolulu Symphony, Charleston Symphony, New World Symphony, and Cape Cod Symphony among others. She has also been involved in world premiers performed by Alea III in Boston, and ballets produced by the University of New Hampshire. In past years, she has attended the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, and has held the principal second violin position of the Orchestra Festival de Geminiani in Italy.
In 2007, Malorie received her Bachelors of Music in violin performance from Boston University under the instruction of Lucia Lin. She is currently working on her Masters of Music at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music under the instruction of Sergiu Luca.
